New Moscow: C'mon Up

New Moscow is the new solo project from Swedish Division Of Laura Lee guitarist, David Fransson. After locking himself away for six-months in a rented room in his hometown of Trollhättan, Sweden he left with 'Verse Chorus Worse', his new album clutched in his hand.

His debut single offering consists of the tracks 'C'mon Up', and the b-side 'Go Rebel Go'. What is achieved with six-months of solo serenity or lonely production practice? The answer is two well-produced and extremely re-playable tracks.

As 'C'mon Up' kicks in the listener is treated to a guitar intro reminiscent to the chorus chords of Placebo's 'Bionic' on their self-titled offering. In the immortal words of Brian Molko on the track, 'none of you can make the grade', but New Moscow takes this theory and disrespects it completely. The guitar chords add a bed to the smooth vocals, which leads to a feel good offering. Fransson's sung narration takes the listener on a musical journey both on a melodic and lyrical level. With punished drum beats and a cacophony of guitar strumming the tune is a worthy opener for this debut solo contribution.

The b-side, entitled 'Go Rebel Go' does little to contrast too heavily with the successful flip-side. Bass guitar fills the intro with electric guitars adding catchy hook chords. Fransson's lyrics lick into action with a softer, less profound lyrical offering than the a-side, but heavy repetition of lyrics soon makes the listener unable to resist offering their vocal offerings along with it. A more commercially inspired track, that polishes off a well rounded debut single.

New Moscow's debut single 'C'mon Up' is released May 28th on Young and Lost Club
